Mothercraft College

Mothercraft's College of Early Childhood Education provides a unique learning experience with one clear focus: the training of Early Childhood Educators who are outstanding in their field.

We facilitate learning by providing the most current research findings and by supporting field internships at exemplary practice sites. We ensure that theory is made real through the application of practice in the real child development world.

Our graduates are accomplished teachers who guide and support the development of very young children, and leaders sought after in a wide range of career opportunities.  Our classroom sizes are small and bias-free, and our course of study is grounded in the practical application of our three guiding principles: the importance of a secure infant to adult attachment; the value of relationships in everything we do; and the understanding that every child has unique strengths and challenges.

Mothercraft students are exposed to a curriculum which embeds traditional Aboriginal teachings.  These align well with Mothercraft’s holistic approach to early childhood development: the focus on each individual child; that each child is part of a family; and that the family is part of the community.

Every course at Mothercraft is taught by experienced child development specialists at the height of their careers.  Our commitment to early years research, our ability to apply new knowledge to our own child and family programs, and our close attention to each student's development, creates an environment in which everyone can be assured of personal and professional growth.

Since 1931, Mothercraft has provided exemplary training for teachers of very young children.  We are a not-for-profit, internationally-recognized organization known for specializing in infants, young children and their families. We not only teach early development specialists at Mothercraft, we also deliver early intervention and early years services in the community.  We interweave our full knowledge and experience as an organization to create a course of study that is focused on the highest standards, because we know that how we care for infants and young children has a lasting impact on the kind of adults they will become.
